Information Systems

The information systems division manages all of the voice and data communications needs of the sheriff's office. This includes a complex mix of hardline and wireless communications. The sheriff's office manages call activity with the deputies in the field via a mobile data commications system that allows the dispatchers to dispatch calls and monitor each deputy in the field. The deputies use the mobile data terminials in their patrol cars to run licenses, vehicle and driver information through links with the Florida Criminal Information Center, Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the National Crime Information Center. These systems also allow the deputies to submit their reports from the field, communicate with and monitor the status of other units in the field. The goal of these communications systems is to keep the officers on the street as much as possible.
