Corrections Division

The Glades County Detention Center is under the direct authority of Glades County Sheriff. The corrections operation is under the supervision of the Chief Deputy of Corrections and the correctional staff. The goal of the corrections division is to create a safe, secure and humane environment for both staff and inmates.

Booking Process

Upon arrival at the Glades County jail each inmate completes property intake (monies deposited, clothing and miscellaneous items inventoried), medical screening and the booking process. A twenty-five dollar ($25)booking fee is charged at the time of intake for non-federal inmates. If the case against the inmate is dismissed or the subject is found not guilty the inmate must supply the Sheriff's Office the court documents and the booking fee will be returned to the inmate.

Individuals that have been arrested and do not bond out of jail appear before a judge within the first twenty-four (24) hours of arrest.The judge informs each arrestedperson of his/her charge (s) and the bond amount this first appearance can take place in thephysical presence of the judgeor via Poly Com (video court).

Inmates that have completed the intake process will be assigned to general population. The housing of each inmate is assigned in accordance with their particular charge classification (felony or misdemeanor).

Visitation Information

Visiting hours are from 8:00am-10:00am, 12:00pm-4:00pm or 6:30-8:30pm seven days a week. The length of the visit will be limited to two (2) hours. The maximum number of visitors per inmate is four (4). Children ages 13 and over will be permitted with parents, or legal guardian. We do not allow contact visitation under any circumstances. Money for Inmate/Detainees

There are three ways to provide money to an inmate or detainee here.

1. Make deposit via the internet or deposit over the phone. (Service in Transition)

3. Mail in a United States Postal Money Order.

Personal checks are not accepted under any circumstance.


Phone calls


Friends and family will have a wide range of options for depositing funds for phone calls.  You will be able to deposit money into an inmate’s account, or into an account specifically tied to your own phone number.  Funds are immediately available for the detainee’s use and they are notified of your deposit.  You will be able to deposit funds via:

1.     In the lobby at the Telmate Kiosks (which accept cash and credit/debit deposits)

2.   Over the phone by calling 1.866.516.0115 (English and Spanish).  All Customer Service Representatives are bilingual operators empowered to make decisions to best serve you by a live operator from 4am-12pm (PST)

3.   Online at www.telmate.com or www.pay.intelmate.com.  The website features fast, reliable, secure and a convenient way to make deposits.  Online payments have instantaneous posting of transactions. 

4.  Over 135,000 retail locations including all Walmart, K-Mart, 7-11, and Best Buys (Contact Customer Service for a list of available locations in your area).

Inmates cannot receive phone calls however they are now able to receive Inmate Voice Mail.  Friends and family can now leave a voice mail message for detainees at the Glades County Sheriff’s Office for the price of a local call.  Just call Customer Service at 1.866.516.0115 and follow the automated instructions. 

Collect calls can be made from the housing units between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Mail:
Inmates may send and receive letters as desired subject to limitations necessary to maintain order and security. Mail is delivered Monday thru Friday except on legal holidays. All mail except legal mail or other privileged mail is opened and inspected for contraband and money orders in the mail room. Legal and privileged mail will be opened in the presence of the inmate.

Only soft back books from reputable publishers that do not contain material in violation of the law or sexually explicit material will be accepted. Inmates may not receive packages except legal materials. Express mail requiring receipt will not be accepted. All mailings must be properly addressed in the following format or they will be returned.
